Tucson, Thursday, January 25, 1934 --

The arrest of Russell Clark.

When you reach the Del Rey Buffet at 25 E Congress, you can't help but overhear one of the patrons describing an arrest of his neighbor on Second Avenue to any and all who'll listen.

"I'll tell ya, there were four cops, two at the front and two at the back. Not that I saw that part mind ya, but once the ruckus started, I saw everything then. Heard the struggle in the house, and then it got quiet. Finally they brought 'im out.  Blood ever'where as they brought 'im out. Just pourin' out 'is head as he was led to the cop car."

"Whose head?"

"My neighbor's. Weren't ya listening? My neighbor's head. He was handcuffed and blood was just ever'where. Course, I don't know exactly who it was. They'd just moved in yesterday. Yep, brought over a couple suitcases from the Congress Hotel, and moved in. Say, I wonder if he had something to do with the fire? Or, maybe ...."
